California mule deer, Odocoileus hemionus californicus, is a subspecies of mule deer whose range covers much of the state of California.

Heading out of Cottonwood Creek, up towards Trail Pass where we head up the spine of the Sierras to summit Mt Whitney

Reflections, both visually and mentally invade you as you head thousands of feet above sea level.

Rugged up and heading towards 12,000 feet. The mountains start to appear before eye level. Just 1.8 mile to the summit. Guitar Lake behind us.
